W wyniku kontroli urzędowej Państwowej Inspekcji Sanitarnej stwierdzono przekroczenie najwyższego dopuszczalnego poziomu (NDP) pozostałości pestycydu - tetrametryny we wskazanej partii orzechów włoskich. Stosowanie środków ochrony roślin zawierających w składzie tetrametrynę jest na terenie Unii Europejskiej nielegalne. W związku z powyższym i ze względu na brak danych toksykologicznych dla tetrametryny nie jest możliwe określenie, czy stwierdzony poziom tetrametryny w orzechach włoskich stwarza nieakceptowalne ryzyko dla konsumentów. Obecność tej substancji w orzechach włoskich powyżej poziomu NDP jest niedopuszczalna
