What the authority reported

The LED key supplied with the affected bicycle locks contains two CR1220 lithium manganese dioxide button/coin cell batteries. The button/coin cell batteries may become accessible from the LED key. If swallowed or inserted into the body, button/coin cell batteries can cause serious internal injuries. The identified hazard is associated with the LED key only. The bicycle lock itself is not affected. Keys supplied with the SureLock bicycle lock other than the LED key are not affected and remain functional. As of September 4, 2026, the company has received no reports of incident or injury in Canada or the United States.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
