Debido a un error de fabricación, en caso de un choque que requiera el despliegue de la bolsa de aire frontal del conductor, estos infladores pueden explotar. Una explosión del inflador dentro del módulo de la bolsa de aire frontal del conductor puede provocar que fragmentos de metal afilados golpeen al conductor, al pasajero del asiento delantero u otros ocupantes y provoquen lesiones graves o la muerte.
