Estos vehículos estaban equipados con infladores de bolsas de aire para el conductor sin azida (NADI) y no contienen propulsor de nitrato de amonio estabilizado en fase (PSAN). Debido a un problema de fabricación, los infladores NADI pueden absorber humedad, lo que provoca que los infladores se rompan o que el cojín de la bolsa de aire no se infle correctamente. En el caso de un choque que requiera el despliegue de la bolsa de aire, la ruptura del inflador puede provocar que fragmentos de metal golpeen al conductor u otros ocupantes. Es posible que un cojín de bolsa de aire desinflado no proteja adecuadamente al ocupante. Estos escenarios aumentan el riesgo de lesiones graves o la muerte.
