Una posible disconformidad de un componente interno de un relé eléctrico podría alterar el control del motor de arranque y hacer que este se dañase por recalentamiento. Como consecuencia, el arrancador puede no estar activado, el control del arrancador puede bloquearse constantemente o el arrancador puede funcionar de forma inesperada. Esto podría provocar un movimiento inesperado del vehículo o un incendio causado por daños al arrancador debido al sobrecalentamiento.
