El bastidor del vehículo, puede haber sido construido con un espárrago innecesario y no utilizado. Este espárrago del bastidor puede ponerse en contacto con el depósito de combustible en un accidente que, en determinadas circunstancias, puede provocar una fuga de combustible. Una fuga de combustible en presencia de una fuente de encendido competente puede provocar un incendio, aumentando el riesgo de lesiones y/o lesiones de los ocupantes fuera del vehículo.
