El cable de salida del regulador de voltaje (cable rojo) puede rozar la esquina delantera del cárter, lo que deja expuesto el cable y provoca un cortocircuito eléctrico. Un cortocircuito puede provocar la pérdida de potencia eléctrica y de potencia de conducción. La pérdida inesperada de la propulsión, combinada con la pérdida de toda la energía eléctrica durante el movimiento, sin indicación previa al conductor y sin la posibilidad de volver a arrancar la motocicleta aumentan el riesgo de accidente.
