Durante el ensamblaje del eje de transmisión, la presencia de grasa en la sección de fijación de la contratuerca provocó un aumento inesperado en la fuerza axial al apretarla. Si el vehículo con un eje de transmisión afectado se opera de forma repetida bajo condiciones que exigen un par elevado en los ejes de transmisión delanteros, el eje afectado podría fracturarse, causando una pérdida de potencia motriz y aumentando el riesgo de colisión
