What the authority reported
No structural defects or non-compliance with safety standards have been confirmed as of now. However, most rechargeable batteries (or battery systems) including lithium-ion batteries have the potential for component corrosion or electrical short circuits if moisture enters the unit, such as during driving or storage in rain or snow. Due to the high energy density of lithium-ion batteries, such short circuits may lead to overheating or fire. This risk is inherent in the general physical and chemical properties of batteries. To ensure consumer safety, we intend to implement a voluntary recall to offer a free replacement with improved batteries where waterproof reinforcements have been applied. If moisture penetrates the battery pack, there is a potential for internal shorts caused by corrosion of the internal circuitry or cell terminals. Such risks have been identified as they may lead to battery overheating, smoke generation, or even fire. This concern is particularly high in environments with prolonged exposure to rain or humidity.
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
