What the authority reported

Issue: On certain transit buses, the transmission yoke bolt could loosen and cause the driveshaft to separate from the transmission. If this happens, there would be a sudden loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risks: A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.

Corrective Actions: New Flyer will notify owners by email. An Allison Transmission technician will inspect and re-tighten the transmission yoke bolts, as necessary.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
