What the authority reported

Issue: On certain electric motorcycles, the lithium battery pack could fail. As a result, the battery could overheat and/or there could be a loss of power to the wheel.

Safety Risk: A battery that overheats could create a fire risk. A sudden loss of power to the wheel could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: Cake will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect the serial number of the battery pack. If the serial number is in the affected range, Cake will provide you with precautions to take while charging your motorcycle until the recall repairs are completed. Once the repair parts are available, the company will send a second notice and provide you with a replacement battery pack and instructions for how to replace it. You can contact Cake Service if you would like help inspecting or replacing the battery pack.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
