What the authority reported

Issue: On certain vehicles, the snap rings for the wheel hub fasteners could be missing. As a result, the wheel hub fasteners could loosen and cause the wheel(s) to detach.

Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could create a hazard for others.

Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect the hub nut retaining system and, if necessary, replace any damaged parts.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
