What the authority reported
Issue: On certain school buses, the snap rings for the wheel hub fasteners could be missing. As a result, the wheel hub fasteners could loosen and cause the wheel(s) to detach.
Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could create a hazard for others.
Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect the hub nut retaining system and, if necessary, replace any damaged parts.
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
Record last checked against the registry on 2026-10-22.
