What the authority reported
Issue: On certain trucks, a problem with the output shaft speed sensor could cause the transmission to downshift suddenly to first gear. If this happens, there could be a loss of control. Note: This recall is an expansion of Ford recall nos. 19S07 (Transport Canada recall no. 2019-065) and 19S19 (Transport Canada recall no. 2019-282).
Safety Risk: A loss of control could create the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the powertrain control module software.
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
