What the authority reported
Issue: On certain vehicle, the U-bolts that attach the rear axle to the suspension may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the axle could slide on the leaf spring. This could cause poor handling and lead to a loss of control.
Safety Risk: A loss of control could create the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the leaf spring U-bolts.
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
