What the authority reported

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the remote smart parking assist (RSPA) not to work properly. This problem could lead to reduced braking while using the RSPA feature. Note: This recall only affects EV9 LAND models with Premium or GT-Line packages.

Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash and/or injury.

Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Kia recommends that you shouldn't use the RSPA feature until the recall repairs have been completed. Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the integrated electronic parking brake software.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
