What the authority reported
Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem may cause the throttle signal to be inverted. If this happens, the engine may not return to idle. As a result, the trucks don't meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Note: This recall only affects certain trucks equipped with a Cummins X15d engine.
Safety Risk: An engine that doesn't return to idle could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the electronic control unit software.
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
