What the authority reported

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the brake lines for the front brake may not have been routed correctly. As a result, the brake lines could become damaged by contact with the fuel tank. If this happens, brake fluid could leak and cause reduced braking.

Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause increased stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: Harley-Davidson will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the brake lines and fuel tank. They will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
