What the authority reported

Issue: On certain snowmobiles, the engine control module bracket may have been broken during production. As a result, the broken bracket could fall in the engine compartment and cause the throttle to become stuck. Note: This recall only affects certain snowmobiles equipped with 600R E-TEC, 850 E-TEC or 850 E-TEC Turbo R engines.

Safety Risk: A stuck throttle could cause an unintended acceleration and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BRP will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your snowmobile to a dealership to inspect the throttle body and, if necessary, remove the broken bracket. The dealer will also inspect the engine control module bracket and replace it, as necessary.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
