What the authority reported
Issue: On certain vehicles, the child safety lock on the left-rear door may not work properly. As a result, the door could be opened from the inside of the vehicle when the safety lock is in the "ON" position. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-157. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.
Safety Risk: A child safety lock that doesn't work properly could allow a child to open a rear door while the vehicle is moving and create a risk of injury.
Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear door latch(es).
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
