What the authority reported

Issue: On certain trucks, the reverse lamp assemblies may not be sealed correctly. As a result, over time, water could leak into the lamp(s) and cause them not to work. Note: This recall affects both Tundra and Tundra Hybrid models.

Safety Risk: Reverse lamps that don't work could cause others not to recognize when a vehicle is backing up, and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace both reverse lamp assemblies. Additionally, the dealer will inspect and, if necessary, repair the wiring for the reverse lamps.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
