What the authority reported

Issue: When using the key fob "global close" feature or the LincolnWay mobile application to close the windows, a software problem could cause the window automatic reversal system for the rear windows not to work. If this happens, a rear window may not stop and retract after detecting an object. As a result, the vehicles may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations.

Safety Risk: A window that closes with too much force could create a risk of injury.

Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the body control module software.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
