What the authority reported
Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 20S73 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-633) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required.
On certain vehicles, the insulation for the engine cover may not be positioned correctly. As a result, some surfaces inside the vehicle could get hot while the engine is running. Safety Risk: If a person touches a hot surface, there could be a risk of a burn injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the powertrain software on vehicles equipped with stationary elevated idle control (SEIC) or battery charge protect (BCP).
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
