What the authority reported

Issue: On certain vehicles, a nut in the steering gear assembly may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the nut could loosen and separate. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control.

Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering gear assembly.
