What the authority reported

Issue: This recall is for certain vehicles that had a battery energy control module (BECM) replaced during service. On certain vehicles, the replacement battery energy control module may not have been programmed correctly. As a result, the state of charge could display incorrectly, so a person may not recognize the low state of charge, which could cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, this could lead to the high-voltage battery overheating after repeated fast charging.

Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A battery that overheats can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the battery energy control module software.
