What the authority reported
The vacuum pump drive gear may be damaged by a mechanical failure caused by high acceleration torque during the engine starting phase. If the pump fails an increase of the brake pedal force may be experienced while driving. Remedy: Complete a software update of the engine ECU. The ECU upgrade reduces the initial load caused by the Mild Hybrid Starter Generator during engine startup (cranking acceleration).
What to do
Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
