What the authority reported

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the passenger-front airbag to deploy with too much force. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with the AT4X AEV (American Expedition Vehicle) option.

Safety Risk: An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash.

Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the airbag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software.

What to do

Follow the instructions in the official notice — recall remedies (refund, repair, replacement, or disposal) are defined by the issuing authority and the responsible business, and they differ per recall. Do not rely on summaries, including this one.
